Not Just Peanut Butter – Naked Peanut Butter

Who doesn’t love peanut butter? The unique toasty, comforting, salty, sweet, earthy flavor is a classic staple in the American diet as well as enjoyed around the globe. Not only does it make a simple spread for a delicious, classic sandwich, it is also a perfect base ingredient for a sauce or dressing to enjoy with salads, soups, and stews.

Korean Summer Rolls

Peanut butter is nutritious and health-promoting, but it is also concentrated in calorie and fat. Two tablespoons of unsweetened and unsalted peanut butter provides 180 calories (kcals) 15 grams of fat, including 2.5 grams of saturated fat (the kind we need to minimize for optimal health), 1 gram sugars, and 8 grams protein. For a super easy swap in recipes that still provides all the rich flavor, I fell in love with Naked PB. For the same 2 tablespoons, there are only 50 kcals, 1.5 grams fat and zero saturated fat, also 1 gram sugar and 6 grams protein. Thus, serving for serving, you can save a large percentage of kcals and fat, while still enjoying all of the peanut butter deliciousness.

One of my favorite recipes from my most recent book, The Choose You Now Diet, is The Korean Summer Rolls with Spicy Peanut Dipping Sauce. I swapped in the exact amount of Naked PB for the peanut butter in the original recipe and notice the nutritional difference. I saved 256.8 kcals and 26.1 grams of fat, plus I eliminated 4 grams of saturated fat. The American Heart Association recommends maintaining a saturated fat intake of less than 5-6% of total kcals each day t0 reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. While nuts and seeds are phenomenal for overall health, including cardiovascular health, swapping in Naked PB for peanut butter enables you to enjoy more nuts and seeds in a day, while following recommended guidelines. Plus, you get all of the flavor! You can have your nuts and eat them, too!

Since I discovered Naked PB, I have been playing with different sauce and dressings, adding it to my Peanut Butter Curry recipes, oatmeal, and enjoying seeing how else I can swap it in. How would you use this product? Share in the comments below….
